'Advanced Entrepreneurship': a course series for Music alumni

As a former student at the Conservatoire, you know what it means to find your artistic voice. But how do you build a sustainable career on that foundation?
Once you graduate, the questions change. No longer about notes, interpretation or technique, but about funding, visibility, collaborations and planning. Questions you may not have had enough time for during your programme, but which suddenly become very real in the professional world.

‘Advanced Entrepreneurship’ is a series of lessons tailored to your specific needs, led by people who know the arts sector.

Who is it for?

For alumni of the Master of Music programme at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp who wish to enhance their professional artistic praxis with additional expertise in entrepreneurship.

This programme is ideal for alumni taking their first steps in the professional world.

Why take part as a former student?

Many alumni only realise after graduating just how important entrepreneurship is for building a sustainable artistic career. During the programme, the focus is on artistic development, which makes sense. But once you’re out in the professional world, you’re faced with questions such as:

  • How do I develop an action plan for a feasible project?
  • How and where do I apply for grants?
  • How do I increase my visibility?
  • How do I collaborate with partners or venues?
  • Who can advise me?

What can you expect from the Advanced Entrepreneurship course?

  • Together with the person responsible for the course, a personalised programme will be drawn up, including a number of ‘Introduction to Entrepreneurship at RCA’ sessions that are relevant to your journey. These sessions take place on Wednesday evenings, from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm, from November until the end of May.
  • Joining external learning pathways and the range of courses on entrepreneurship in the arts sector, depending on your specific questions, needs and case studies.
  • Participation in lessons and projects in collaboration with UA Culture Management.
  • Personal guidance and coaching.

You will start working around:

  • business model,
  • action plan,
  • branding,
  • partners in the sector,
  • entrepreneurship and innovation,
  • grants,
  • social media,
  • professional advice,
  • and more.

The programme not only strengthens your practice, but also enhances the relevance and dynamism of the course through the interaction between students and alumni.
