American flutist Pamela Stahel studied with Bernard Z. Goldberg and William Hebert and took masterclasses with Marcel Moyse and Julius Baker. After moving to Switzerland, she continued her training with André Jaunet and built a thriving career as a freelancer, with guest appearances with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, among others. Since 1991, she has been a permanent member of the Philharmonia Zurich, where she has worked with conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta and Franz Welser-Möst.
In addition to her orchestral work, Stahel is an active chamber musician with a particular interest in contemporary and crossover projects. She teaches piccolo and chamber music at the Zurich University of the Arts and has been a guest at international festivals such as the NFA Flute Convention in the USA, the Rheinau Summer Academy, the Porto Flute Festival and the International Piccolo Festival in Grado.
