In uncertain times and under the influence of geopolitical tensions, people seek security and comfort. How can we find a sense of home in a world that is falling apart, and in which the collective power of a “union” or a “united nation” is coming under increasing pressure?
Safae el Khannoussi made her debut in 2024 with Oroppa, which immediately became one of the best books of the past year. The book was awarded the Boon Prize for fiction and non-fiction and the Libris Literature Prize. Oroppa, Europe in Moroccan Arabic, evokes the voices of the North African diaspora, which is an inseparable part of the history of this continent.
