Thomas Moore joins The Young Academy of Belgium

Great news for Conservatoire teacher and researcher Thomas R. Moore. He was elected, after an open call, along with nine other researchers, as a member of The Young Academy, a group of promising young scientists and artists with distinctive views on science, society, art and policy.

Thomas Moore: musician, researcher, teacher

Thomas R. Moore (Royal Conservatoire Antwerp) is a musician, researcher and teacher. He investigates the changing expectations of composers and artistic leaders with regard to performing musicians in contemporary music and performing arts, such as an increasingly flexible employability. He studies how musicians adapt to these demands and how they develop new skills for coping with this subordinate role. Within Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, he is also a teacher and section chairperson of the brass section.

The Young Academy of Belgium

The Young Academy is a leading organisation that provides a platform for young researchers to express their views on current science policies. The organisation operates under the umbrella of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and Arts (KVAB) and the Royal Academy of Dutch Language and Literature (KANTL). There are about 20 chapters of the Young Academy worldwide, whose successful campaigns reach governments as well as the general public.

Thomas R. Moore becomes a member on 1 April 2024 and stays on until 31 March 2029. On 6 March, the 10 new members will be officially inaugurated.
