    RESEARCH WEEK OCTOBER 2026

    This Research Week explicitly connects research and education, giving students the opportunity to engage with research(ers) and the research base within the Academy. During the Research Week, students can choose from various research classes.

    These research classes—organized, prepared, and supervised by Academy researchers or externally invited researchers—are experimental and reflective in nature. They begin with a thematic, but not discipline-specific, question. In this way, they add value to and complement the permanent curriculum. They are not studio-bound but are rooted in current research, with a broad range of substantive or thematic perspectives, ensuring that every student can gain a meaningful research experience.

    The Research Week of the 2026–2027 academic year will take place from 19 to 23 October 2026 and will be part of the annual ARTICULATE research festival.


    PROGRAMME 
    During this Research Week, master students can choose from the following research classes:

    Perceiving, Feeling, Building connectionby Delphine Wibaux
    Lettering guide — shablones as narrative systemsby Kristí Fekete, Frankie and Mathias Mu
    Devices, traces, playful misusesby Will Peck
    Long White Playground: How to Interact with Chance by Yuki Okumura
    A Silent Retreat in the Golden Valleyby Bart Van Dijck
    Framing: A Museumby Vedran Kopljar

    PRACTICAL INFORMATION

    For whom? 
    For the master students of the Academy. There will be no theory lessons nor studio work in this week. This allows the participating masters to make time and space for new experiences. 
    Students will be assessed based on permanent evaluation and engagement in the process. The researches classes will be in English.

    How and when to register? 
    Register from Monday 21 September (12:00) until Monday 5 October 2026. Instructions will follow by email and via Intranet for Students. 
    About 10-15 students can participate in each research class. Registration is based on the 'first comes first served' principle. Research classes that are full can no longer be chosen.
