Report

Would you like to report something? Check the schedule to see which route is being followed.

What is transgressive behaviour?

AP University College wants to offer everyone who works or studies at the university college a safe environment. At all times. AP therefore has a zero-tolerance policy towards transgressive behaviour and wants to take undesirable transgressive behaviour and its consequences seriously and tackle it, with respect for all those involved. What is perceived as transgressive is not the same for everyone. Behaviour is undesirable if it crosses your personal boundaries. This can include bullying, unwanted sexual behaviour or violence, intimidation, stalking, discrimination, racism, abuse of power within hierarchical relationships, etc.

Who is it for?

The GOG Hotline is for all (former) students, (former) staff members, third parties, and alumni who want to seek advice or report situations of undesirable transgressive behavior involving AP students and/or AP staff members.

  • If you are a staff member: the GOG reporting center is there if a student or students are involved. For reports between staff that require treatment in addition to registration, we work together with the confidential advisors of the AP or IDEWE prevention service and refer the matter to them.
  • If you are a student: the GOG reporting center is the right place, unless you want to report something about your external internship location. In that case, you can contact the AP prevention service (preventie@ap.be).
  • If you are an external party (alumnus, former staff member, other): the GOG reporting center is the right place.

Why report?

AP University College wants to detect and address problems relating to undesirable behaviour as early as possible. With this GOG Reporting Centre, we are further building on the care and psychological support we already offer today. We want to make our services even more accessible and easier to reach. The GOG Reporting Centre is a service provided by AP University College. Use of our services is free of charge.

How can you contact the GOG Hotline?

The GOG Hotline can be contacted confidentially:

by email:

  • via the general mailbox that Joke, Marc and Lene, the confidential advisors at the GOG Hotline, check regularly: meldpuntgog@ap.be
  • or via their personal email addresses: joke.leenknecht@ap.be, marc.kenis@ap.be, lene.beelen@ap.be
  • via the general number of the Student Centre: 03 220 59 00. They will transfer your call to the appropriate person.
  • via the digital report button

The confidential advisors will then contact you as soon as possible.

Who will receive the report?

The confidential advisors at the GOG Reporting Centre are professional counsellors from the Student Centre. They treat every question or report with the necessary discretion. Your report will be handled with great care. The confidential advisors are bound by professional secrecy.

What happens after a report?

The confidential advisors will contact you as soon as possible after you make a report. This is usually followed by an initial, confidential, one-on-one conversation. You may bring someone from your circle with you if this helps you take the step or provides support.
Sometimes we refer you immediately to another (external or internal) service. This may involve:

  • an internal or external psychological service
  • services for official procedures within AP, such as disciplinary proceedings or disciplinary measures
  • an external service such as the police, the Antwerp racism and discrimination reporting centre, UNIA, Genderkamer, Sexual Violence Care Centre
  • ...

This will be explained during the initial contact. In this case, there will not necessarily be a conversation between the reporter and someone from the GOG Hotline. This means that the reporter does not have to repeat the same story over and over again. It is therefore important that reporters quickly end up in the right place with their report.

If possible, mediation is chosen so that, after the report has been dealt with, all parties involved can continue with mutual respect.
We sometimes notice that reporters do not respond after they have made a report and a confidential advisor from the GOG Hotline has contacted them. In that case, the report is registered, but nothing further can be done with it. This also applies to anonymous reports.

Initial interview

If the confidential advisors invite you for an interview, they will listen to your story and help you clarify your question. They will inform and advise you about possible further steps and guide you through them. You decide for yourself which steps will or will not be taken.
This meeting can take various forms and does not necessarily have to lead to further steps. Some possibilities:

  • As the reporter, you only want to tell your story.
  • You want to report a problem situation. However, you wish to remain anonymous in the follow-up steps, but you do expect the university college to take action.
  • You have witnessed a problem situation and are wondering what you can do yourself.
  • As the reporter, you want a conversation between an employee of the GOG Reporting Centre and the person who has behaved inappropriately towards you.
  • As the reporter, you are open to mediation between you and the person you are reporting.
  • ...

Registration is required and can be done anonymously if desired.

The advisors register every question or report that comes to the GOG Hotline (both anonymous and non-anonymous reports). This is done confidentially but not automatically anonymously, unless you request this as the reporter. There are advantages to non-anonymous registration: for example, in the case of multiple reports over time concerning one person, more can be done than if the registration is anonymous. Only the confidential advisors of the GOG Hotline have access to the registration document.

For AP and its policy on inappropriate behaviour, it is important that this registration takes place so that appropriate action can be taken and adjustments made.

Anonymous treatment is possible. When a reporter submits their story to the GOG Hotline, they can request to remain anonymous during the follow-up steps. In this case, neither the report nor the registration is anonymous, but anonymity can be guaranteed outside the GOG Hotline. The reporter can change their choice of anonymity along the way.

Complaints about the functioning of the GOG Hotline

If you have any complaints about the functioning of the GOG Hotline and the follow-up of inappropriate behaviour, you can contact the GOG Committee (commissieGOG@ap.be). The GOG Committee consists of the Director of Staff, the Director of Education and Students, the Director of the Student Centre (Chairperson) and the prevention advisor of AP University College. This GOG Committee meets four times a year.

Urgent need for help?

During the holiday periods, you can also contact and report, but the presence of the internal confidential advisor is not guaranteed. The Cross-Border Behaviour Hotline remains available, but cannot provide immediate crisis assistance.

If you need urgent help or need to talk, you can contact Tele Onthaal via 106.
