Nona Sadey

Nona Sadey is an artistic educator, cultural mediator, and a ceramicist who honours the cracked bowl, should anyone ever have questions about processes of growth.

She worked at the Conservatoire on inclusion: a search for what artistic care can mean within the context of the school. She has done public programming in museums, gave workshops in hospitals, castles, and on cargo bikes, and has a soft spot in her heart for people who think art "isn't for them."

Nona believes that a safe space doesn't mean things are comfortable; she believes in silences of at least ten seconds, in permaculture principles in education, in community, and in the importance of a well-filled teapot. She always asks a lot of questions. She has collaborated with organisations including FOMU, M Leuven, GRIP, hetpaleis, Laika, Zonzo Compagnie, and Back2SoilBasics: places where she could experiment with form, space, and the question of how to care for each other whilst creating.

She also serves on the governing bodies of WISPER, Sophia and Rif, and continuously quests for less hierarchical ways of learning, collaborating, and being together. Together with Cleo Foole she founded Club Zee vzw, where they facilitate social and artistic moments. Nona is an effort to connect that never stands still.

Nona works at the Conservatoire as master coordinator of Drama and teaches classes and workshops in the different programmes.
