STEP 2. Artistic entrance examination
If you meet the diploma and language requirements you will need to pass the artistic entrance exam as a second step.

The dates of the artistic entrance examinations for academic year 2023-2024 are already fixed, though. Put them in your calendar already.

We strongly advise students from outside the EU to participate in the first session of the entrance exams because of Visum issues and the time needed to arrange their stay in Belgium.

2. The administration fee
To be certain that you can participate, the administration fee (40 euros) has to be paid within two weeks after registration. The payment needs to be done online within the application tool. The application fee is non-refundable.
As soon as we have checked your payment, we will send you a link to an entry form. Due to the summer closure, candidates for session 2 who complete their registration and payment before July 5 will receive their online form by July 10, the others by August 20.
3. Procedure entrance exam
The entrance examination of Jazz has 3 rounds
Round 1
All candidates will do an entrance exam based on a video recording with the requested programme and a motivation video in Dutch or English. In the online form you can add the links to your recordings. We only accept Vimeo and Youtube links (without password). You can also share videos via google drive. Be sure to test beforehand that all links work properly for external visitors.

Round 2
Candidates who pass round 1 will be invited to the live entrance exam.
Live entrance exams will take place at the Royal Conservatoire, Desguinlei 25, 2018 Antwerp. All candidates are expected to be available for the full day. A detailed timetable will be emailed one week prior to the live entrance exam.
Candidates should be present 20 minutes before the announced time. A (live) accompaniment band will be provided.
Belgian students will be invited for live participation in the entrance examination. Foreign candidates will also have the option to participate online, due to covid. You can specify this in the online form.
Round 3
Candidates for the bachelor's degree in jazz who pass the live entrance examination will take part in the audition for Eartraining and Reading skills.
This audition will take place at the Royal Conservatoire, Desguinlei 25, 2018 Antwerp. The ear training test takes place in a group. Afterwards, the test reading training will be taken individually. We put together an interesting list for you to prepare for this part of the artistic entrance exam. Be sure to take a look.

4. Publication of the results of the entrance exam
Within seven calendar days from the decision, the results of the artistic entrance exam are sent by e-mail to the e-mail address specified by the candidate.
A prospective student may only enroll once per academic year, based on the same entrance exam unless specifically requested by the jury after the first participation.
