Art Bridges: Antwerp to Beijing and back again

For the 360th anniversary of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, we are highlighting our collaboration with the Central Academy for Fine Arts in Beijing (CAFA) with an ambitious project.
Students from both schools were invited to create a personal artistic message for their peers on the other side of the world. The artworks will be exhibited in both art schools: the Academy works in Beijing in November, the CAFA works in Antwerp in December.
At CAFA's generous invitation, we presented 360 contributions by our students from all years and all disciplines in November. Together, they form a kaleidoscopic self-portrait of the Academy as it is today and of a generation of emerging artists. The exhibition was visited with great interest by fellow Chinese students.
In response, CAFA students will show their 360 works in The Academy's Long Hall from Thursday 30 November.
After the exhibition, all the works will be published in an album and kept permanently in both art schools.
This unique artistic exchange shows how art can bridge young artists from different continents and backgrounds.
