Annelien Van Wauwe, clarinet & Yannick Van de Velde, piano
Bolster' is the new name of both the 'Friends of Antwerp Conservatoire' and the 'Antwerp Conservatoire Foundation'. For years they have supported the students and projects of our beloved Conservatoire separately. By joining forces they will be able to do so even more vigorously from now on.
The internationally renowned soloist Annelien Van Wauwe, clarinet teacher at the Antwerp Conservatoire, and the brilliant concert pianist and pedagogue Yannick Van de Velde, alumnus of the Conservatoire, were immediately very fond of the Bolster Foundation and agreed to play a kick-off benefit concert, the proceeds of which will go entirely to Bolster.
From the large repertoire, they chose compositions by Claude Debussy, Johannes Brahms and Miecyslaw Weinberg. It will be a programme in which different atmospheres meet, which may lead to new insights.
The participation of a clarinet quartet from Annelien Van Wauwe's class will be something to look forward to. They will be playing 'Memorias' by the Basque saxophonist Pedro Iturralde, who passed away last year, in an arrangement by Inaki Ucar. In addition, the clarinet ensemble of the Antwerp Conservatoire will perform Steve Reich's New York Counterpoint as an introduction to the concert.
Take a seat and enjoy!
