Hip Hip Poulenc - Queer Edition

In 2024, French composer Francis Poulenc would have turned 125. That is why music theatre collective Les Âmes Perdues is celebrating Poulenc all year round! 2024 will be a celebration year full of tributes to the composer, including four salon evenings, highlighting and playing themes and common threads from his life and work. On May 10, the trio, accompanied by musician friends and students of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, will organize a ‘queer musical soirée’. Delving into his songs and chamber music, but also his many letters, they’ll try to uncover how Poulenc's own queerness colored his life and work, and how we can draw bridges to what queerness can mean for artists nowadays.

In collaboration with Antwerp Queer Arts Festival.
