Opera production - The Clemenza di Tito, W.A Mozart

La Clemenza di Tito is one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's last operas and is considered one of his most impressive works. This opera seria in two acts was composed on commission for the coronation of Emperor Leopold II in Prague in 1791. The libretto is based on a text by Pietro Metastasio and was adapted by Caterino Mazzolà.

The story revolves around the Roman emperor Titus, who is about to be crowned. His clemency and good heart are put to the test when he faces a plot against his life, led by the jealous Vitellia. Despite the betrayal of his friends, Titus ultimately chooses forgiveness.

The orchestra is conducted by Korneel Bernolet. It is directed by Benoît De Leersnyder. Katja Stonewood is responsible for set and costumes.

The opera project takes place every two years and is made possible with the support of Bolster vzw.
