Soup Session by Evi Olde Rikkert / ccroissant studio
invited by research group ArchiVolt
Tuesday 26 March 2024, 12:30-14:00
at the Research Room, Academy
Evi Olde Rikkert’s research takes the object ‘table’ as its starting point with the aim of broadening our understanding of this object—a common infra(or intra-)structure with a flat top and legs—via a metaphysical investigation. By engaging in dialogue, the uses of tables in (art)historical representations are explored, employing metaphors to examine the meanings, political, and sociological tendencies associated with the table.
This led her to set up ccroissant studio—a cro(i)ss-disciplinary studio operating at the intersection of art, theory, design, and craft. The studio approaches the domain of art as a playground, adopting an ethic of care that emphasizes the collaboration intrinsic to the thinking/making process. Research methods include organizing aperitivos around train tables and playing ping-pong with books.
