Marnik Baert is a Flemish director and designer. He studied at the Royal Academy of Ghent, where he followed the Scenography course. He also obtained a master's degree in costume design. He then worked for four years at the Arena Theater in Ghent. He then worked for eleven years at the Nederlands Toneel in Ghent.
During the period 1992-2000, he taught at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent in "Fashion, Costume and Behaviour".
Since 1997 he has been a freelance designer. Since 2001 he is a teacher at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp where he teaches "Theatre Costume Design".
