Can Boyan is a teaching artist and researcher. He obtained his master’s at Sandberg Instituut, Amsterdam. His work brings applied drama and improvisational play with a focus on physical, embodied experiences together. Building onto his use of physical cues as dramaturgical propositions or as theatrical metaphors, his performances play with the possibilities of shared artistic processes by inviting audience-participants to take part in the work as authors-makers.
He currently is a doctoral researcher at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp where his research ‘Beyond gaze: Establishing the language of touch in applied drama.’ aims to combine his work on touch based artistic strategies and process drama into a touch-led dramatic inquiry framework.
