Eli Elise Hoopman is a writer and a performer. She studies classical Greek and biblical Hebrew at the KU Leuven. Her MA in Drama (Word Art) from the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp was completed with a short novel. In magazines like De Optimist, Papieren Helden and Gpunt, she has published short stories, and she performs her texts at libraries, and in museums. She is part of the writing collaboration Watlab at de Blikfabriek in Hoboken, where she works on a novel that will appear with the Dutch publishing house Nijgh & van Ditmar. Her work, which is escapist by nature, seeks to explore the oblique and obscure aspects of human relations.
