Filip Neyens received his music education at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven in the bassoon class of Mr. Dirk Noyen.
After obtaining master degrees and specializations for bassoon and chamber music, he successfully participated in an orchestra audition at the Flemish Opera in 2001. For 6 years he was soloist bassoon/contrabassoon with the orchestra of this opera house.
In 2007, Filip joined the Belgian National Orchestra, where he has been working until today, also as solo bassoon/contrabassoon.
Besides the many national and international performances with his own orchestra, Filip regularly works together with numerous other (chamber) orchestras and ensembles, including Het Collectief, Oxalys, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, Casco Phil,...
As an educator, he is active as teacher of double bassoon at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and as bassoon teacher at the Municipal Academy Vilvoorde.In the spring of 2015, together with fellow bassoonist Bert Helsen, he founded the brand new ensemble HaftCraft, with which both bassoon and contrabassoon perform in a hybrid context.Finally, Filip is part of the wind ensemble I Solisti del Vento.
