Gijs Waterschoot's (1990) artistic practice takes shape within the search for links and connections between themes and questions that are crossing his path, often these have to do with spatiality and ecology. Starting from the idea that everything is connected, his research tries to make these relationships visible and understandable. This is a constantly fluctuating process that can take on different forms and angles, this way of working therefore requires a multimedia approach that results in walks, films, field recordings, notes, conversations, collaborations, etc. Since 2017, he has been forming a duo with Rien Schellemans on a regular basis, in which both of their artistic practices enter into dialogue with each other and arrive at new insights. These dialogues focus on education, sociology, ecology, cosmology, mycology, etc.. From 2017 to 2020, he and his partner Ersi Varveri ran the artist-run space 'Pink House' in Antwerp, where they organised a large number of projects and events, and provided studios for various artists/researchers. During this period, they also set up the 'Pink House press' project, with which they focused on self-publishing as an extension of their artistic practice. Since March 2020, they have been living and working between Antwerp (BE), Athens (GR) and Syros (GR), experimenting with the idea of what future spaces and environments themselves, artists and humanity needs.
