Marc Bertel is an artist, filmmaker and cinematographer. Establishing and utilizing original visual and sonic archives as a means of cultivating counter-narratives, Marc Bertel's films, publications and installations often develop from a personal engagement with communities that is initially entirely unrelated to the production of artworks. Taking the form of critical yet poetic audio-visual meditations on contemporary life through the spectre of race and class, his work is thus first and foremost a testament to these personal relations, the pre-established high-trust environment and the recurring conversations that enable his artistic practice.
