Belgian jazz trombonist and composer Nabou Claerhout is not only mentioned in our country, but also internationally as "definitely one to watch out for". With her quartet N∆BOU she approaches the trombone in a contemporary way and creates her own sound with innovative effects and fresh compositions. She is surrounded by three promising musicians who have previously played with HAST, Tsar B and Mathias Vercammen Quartet. The foursome has already been a noted guest at North Sea Jazz Festival, Gent Jazz, Bel Jazz Fest and Leuven Jazz. Her first long-awaited full album will be released in the fall of ‘21. This will be a follow-up to their acclaimed debut EP 'Hubert', which was nominated for the SABAM for culture 'Jazz composer 2019'. Besides her own project, Claerhout is also active as a sideman in various bands and orchestras such as Jokke Schreurs Septet, MJO ft Lennert Beart and Azbeul.
Claerhout completed her bachelor's degree at Codarts (Rotterdam). She later completed her master studies at The Royal Academy of Music (London) and Codarts. Whereby her passage in London did not go unnoticed: "There was real star quality in her soloing: strong tone, strong line, real presence. Claerhout was a new name to me and is definitely one to watch out for." (London Jazz News)
