Yorgos Maraziotis (*1984, Athens GR) is an MA graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. His multidisciplinary methodology focuses on conceptual processes that question domesticity, contemporary habitations and human relations. Through the usage of common materials of the plastic arts he sculpturally intervenes in spaces and develops site-specific participatory situations that explore their cultural or architectural identity. His artworks often gain a sensorial narrative and attempt to co-exist strong antithetical notions such as private-public, pleasure-discontent, danger-safety.
Works of Maraziotis, have been exhibited internationally in galleries, art institutions and museums such as MARRES House for Contemporary Culture (Maastricht); Museum Tinguely (Basel); AC Institute New York (USA); Box Freiraum (Berlin); Matadero (Madrid); 7 Biennale of Contemporary Art (Thessaloniki); SVA New York (USA); CICA Museum (South Korea); Vermont Art Center (Rutland, USA); Benaki Museum (Athens); Base-Alpha Gallery (Antwerp) among others. He is a former resident artist of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MA, USA) and an ARTWORKS Fellow of Stavros Niarchos Foundation. He lives and works in Antwerp.
