The growing environmental awareness and the relatively recent environmental legislation mean that teachers and students are increasingly pondering the harmful effects of products they work with. Against this background, the research project ANTI-VOS was set up at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. The collaboration between a visual artist and a chemist leads to insights that have an impact on daily artistic practice.
The project ANTI-VOS searches for alternatives for the harmful 'volatile organic solvents' (v.o.s.) that occur in inks, detergents and additives. The project's starting point is the maximum guarantee of safety for people and the environment, without compromising the quality of the resources used.
