Otlet Salons is a platform for knowledge sharing. It is the Salon of the 21st Century with participants who are professionals in arts, academia, entrepreneurship, international institutions and social initiatives. Their mission is to bridge networks, to connect people and to generate new and interesting spillovers between participants in different fields. Editions of the Otlet Salons focus on particular interdisciplinary topics and research questions, and are organized as the combination of presentations, discussions, work groups and measurable output. Topics and work groups are generated by researchers and students from partner university or colleges and their research groups, partner organizations that invite international guests (artists and researchers) to an edition of the Otlet Salons. Output is generated in the form of articles based on the discussions during the Otlet Salons, video interviews, social media etc., and will be further distributed by our partner organizations. Articles are published in newsletters/magazines like FORUM+, BOZAR monthly program and partner websites.
In 2016, at least four editions will be held in cooperation with multiple venues and organizations. The researchers gain a pool of complementary and non-academic knowledge, which they can use in their own research output. This leads to societal-driven output for professionals, while participants gain experience with innovative research methods.
