Images determine our identity more than ever. Through news and social media our self-image and that of society is formed and manipulated. We live in a globalized, conflicted, overcrowded, ecologically damaged planet. During this project we want to investigate how photographic images on the one hand report on our current society (show) and on the other hand impose (manipulate) ethical and political issues. Students from the photographic departments of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and from the Academy for Art and Design, St. Joost, Breda will work on 'identity and image' from a polarized position (Flanders vs. the Netherlands). What do concepts such as national and cultural identity mean in a globalized world and a superdiverse society?
