The central objective of this research project is to apply the concept of ‘the voice as instrument/ the instrument as voice’ to one specific case, namely Omaggio a Gyorgy Kurtag (1983- 1986) by Luigi Nono. Through an in-depth analysis of the composition of this work, Paolo Galli wants to prove how Nono, by compositional, vocal and instrumental techniques on one hand, and through a specific approach of timbre and harmony on the other hand, scanned the boundaries within which a voice can be used instrumentally and an instrument can be used vocally..
