The Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts will soon blow out 360 candles. So you can already imagine how many students in recent years - and centuries! – have been sent here and have exchanged the studios and classrooms for a career in the arts sector or the cultural field.

We like to put a spotlight on our alumni, whether recently graduated or having left the schools years or decades ago.

  • Congratulations to our alumnus Miguel Cipriano, who graduated in photography in 2019 and was selected as an Artist in Residence for the Art Research Program of the L'AiR ARTS program in Paris. More information on Instagram!

  • Alumna Gille Peeters (26) recently opened her own jewelery shop with her brand Fragille in the Kammenstraat, Antwerp. The brand has been around for several years and she has already put it in the spotlight it in an atelier in the diamond district. But now she has taken the next step and opened her own place to guide people towards that one striking and playful ring. An idea for under the Christmas tree? Follow the store on Instagram now!

  • Can't get enough of beautiful jewelry that completes your outfit? Then you should certainly visit the store Mass Lee, in the Kloosterstraat in Antwerp. Designer duo Josefine Mass and Dabin Lee, both alumni of our Academy, found each other during their studies and decided to collaborate. The result? A beautiful and unique collection in which the Norwegian simplicity and playful modernism as well as the traditional Korean identity are intertwined. Take a look at their website and you'll be sold right away!

  • Last year alumna Printmaking Leen Nuyts and her husband started a home gallery. Under the name DE.KAMER - REMAK.ED, they invite artists to exhibit their work in their home, which is turned into a gallery for the occasion. Their focus is on Printmaking, but in the broad sense of the word. On November 18, 2022, the exhibition "A Kiss is an Imprint (of an impression that emphatically demands to be reprinted)" is opened to the public. All featured artists are alumni from the Academy and we couldn’t be prouder. See you there!

  • Congratulations to our photography alumnus Ivan Tomasevic, who was selected as Artist in Residence in the SIM residence in Reykjavik, Iceland. The SIM Residency is an international self-directed artist-in-residence program for artists with two locations in Reykjavik, Iceland. Earlier, Ivan was selected as one of the rising talents in FRESH EYES, a book presenting the greatest emerging photographers of Europe. Keep up the good work, Ivan!
  • Next week Thursday 20 Otober, a new expo from the BredaPhoto residency will open its doors. We are proud to announce that our photography alumnus Fabien Silvestre Suzor was selected for this opportunity and proudly takes part in the exhibition. More info below!
