The all-new Benefit Concert!
Welcome to the Night of the Maestro, where every year we honour a person or institution that has made an unmistakable impact on the world of music or performing arts with the title of Maestro Honoris Causa.
On this 24th edition, it is journalist and former drama teacher Phara de Aguirre who will receive the honour. De Aguirre dedicates her career to discovering the unknown, to telling stories that others might miss, and to passing on that curiosity to new generations, including Conservatoire students.
Programme
- Nahid Shaikh, with whom Phara made the acclaimed documentary series Amazons, kicks off with the laudation.
- Fien Leysen follows with a surprising audio lecture compiled by former students.
- Actors Tijmen Govaerts and Hans Depelchin turn the tables and will be interviewing Phara de Aguirre for once.
- In between, there are musical interventions by exceptional students.
- Provincial governor Cathy Berx presents the certificate with accompanying artwork by Nedda El-Asmar.
- Choir conducting teacher Marleen De Boo will get the audience singing. Jazz vocal studies student Anke Ludwig will be joined by two of her fellow students: Tristan Baars and Florian Wellens. They will play jazzy songs and fill the hall with soundscapy interludes.
The Night of the Maestro promises to be a delightful evening for anyone who loves art or wants to get to know Phara de Aguirre better.
