Antwerp Academy Ambassadors in Shanghai
Brandon Wen, alumnus of the Academy and Creative Director of our renowned Fashion Department since 2022, was a guest at a glamorous alumni event in Shanghai on November 8th. To honor our Chinese alumni, a true celebration was organized at the Belgian Embassy. Not only were our alumni officially recognized as Antwerp Academy Ambassadors, the guests were also able to enjoy a panel discussion about the contemporary fashion industry and talk to each other afterwards with a Belgian beer in hand.
The event was organized by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp (AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts), the Belgian Embassy in Shanghai and the China-Europe Economic and Cultural Center of Belgium and supported by Flanders Investment and Trade Agency. The guests included alumni of the Royal Academy in Antwerp, but also many representatives of universities with ambitious fashion programs, companies in the fashion industry and distributors of international brands.
We can safely say that Brandon had a great time!
Shanghai is a thriving city with an intense and growing fashion and arts scene. The alumni networking event was an exciting moment to see alumni together and reconnect with old friends. We were together in the garden of Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai for networking, speeches and of course drinks! We were joined by other universities, industry professional and friends. Shanghai is in the midst of defining what modern Chinese fashion design and art is and our graduates are an integral part of that scene. It was a blast and a place for us all to keep our eyes on.
