Sine Özbilge, a multidisciplinary visual artist, XR explorer, game and film director based in Belgium, will be the artist in residence at MaxLab during spring 2025. With her work previously showcased at international platforms such as Ars Electronica and the Sharjah Art Foundation, she will now focus on developing location-based narratives using Augmented Reality (AR), combining technology and storytelling to explore how the digital and physical worlds can harmoniously interact.
While developing her new residency project, she will examine how digital systems intersect with the tangible world, inviting participants to engage with AR-driven experiences that integrate carefully crafted 3D-printed artworks. This direction aligns with Sine’s artistic focus on post-net aesthetics, digital artefacts, and the relationship between human behavior and technological advancements.
With her experience as a lecturer at the animation faculty of LUCA School of Arts and her artistic body of work, including her hybrid XR project Cathex, Sine will bring an experimental and playful approach to the residency. Her time at MaxLab will allow her to refine her ideas and further explore the possibilities of AR as a medium for narrative expansion. As part of the residency, she will also deliver an artist talk, offering an overview of her multidisciplinary art practice.
