Job description
As the artistic coordinator of the Fashion Programme, supported by the pedagogical coordinator, you lead the team of the Fashion Programme in an inspiring, dynamic and open way.
As lecturer you teach the course Fashion Design and you guide your students in their artistic and creative process and evaluate their development on a regular basis.
You develop, in consultation with the teachers and in coordination with the students, an innovative artistic-pedagogical vision for the Fashion Programme and you secure its excellence and its standing in the context of the international fashion world.
Together with your staff you translate this vision into an ambitious programme and a high-performance policy that is in line with the strategic objectives of the Academy regarding diversity and sustainability, and on technological innovation. You closely monitor the implementation of this policy and make adjustments where and when necessary.
You have regular consultations with the head of the Academy and with the Head of Programme. You are a member of the Academy's artistic staff and participate in meetings in accordance with the Academy's policy.
You stimulate the integration of artistic research in the curriculum and the daily functioning of the programme. You initiate and supervise (research) projects that contribute to innovation and improvement of the quality of education, research and public service.
You represent the Fashion Programme and the Academy on relevant national and international platforms and set up collaborations with national and international partners. You develop and sustain active relationships with different partners of the international fashion network.
You contribute to the communication about the Fashion Programme and actively work on the national and international image of the Rrogramme, for instance by organising the annual Show and Expo.
You look for synergy with the other programmes of the Academy, other departments of the University College, and with the alumni of the Fashion Programme.
Profile
- You are passionate about fashion and active as a designer in the fashion sector. You can demonstrate your vision, your experience, your achievements and your international network on the basis of an artistic portfolio and your vision in writing.
- You have a Master's degree in Fashion, Visual Arts or a related education, preferably with a certificate of pedagogical competence.
- You feel called upon to develop, implement and evaluate an ambitious and innovative vision for the Fashion Programme, in consultation with colleagues and the sector.
- You can communicate clearly and fluently and are able to inspire, motivate and lead a diverse team.
- You love to seek out collaborations and contacts and are a swift networker.
- You have a good command of English and Dutch or you are willing to learn (one of) both languages in short term.
- Experience in higher art education and artistic research is recommended.
Appointment
We offer a full-time contractual appointment in the scale Lecturer AOA starting 01.07.2022 or consecutive until 23.09.2023. Renewal of appointment and transition to a statutory appointment for an indefinite period is possible after a positive evaluation.
You will receive a salary based on salary scale 508 or salary scale 512, depending on your proven experience in or outside of education or proof of a doctorate (in arts).(You can find more information about the scale on https://data-onderwijs.vlaanderen.be/salaris/schalen/)
A seniority allowance of maximum 10 years may be granted in accordance with the regulations on granting seniority allowances based on the evaluation of useful professional experience.
We offer hospitalisation insurance if the term of employment exceeds 12 months. It is free of charge for staff members who work for 70% or more. Family members of our staff members can also join (subject to a contribution).
You will receive full reimbursement for commuting by public transport or a bicycle allowance of EUR 0.231/km.

Selection procedure
The selection is made by a selection committee that has been specifically composed for this vacancy. Based on the submitted applications, this committee decides which candidates will be invited for a first online selection interview. An additional assignment will be organised around a vision text of the study programme. Afterwards, candidates will be invited for a second interview physically on campus. Afterwards, the committee takes a decision.
