FASHION AWARDS 2024

• Buffalo Boots GmbH Award TRISTAN PEDROSA, 3BA
With a rich history rooted in innovation and versatility, Buffalo continues to push boundaries and inspire individuals to express themselves boldly. With the Buffalo Boots GmbH award the German footwear brand wants to reward the student who cultivates boldness and help continue them to do so from the feet up.

• C&A Award → SYBRAND JANSEN, 3BA
C&A invited students from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp to examine 'The relevance of denim in history and society - from workwear to the most democratic fashion garment for everybody and all occasions, no matter which shape & size'. A fashion expert community voted for their favorite creation, who received a cash-prize to support his professional development as well as the fulfilment of personal dreams.

• Christine Mathys Award → JINNY SONG, Master
In honour of Christine’s passion for fashion, a prize of €5000 will be awarded to the collection that most radiates this passion. Christine Mathys was co-founder of NV Dries Van Noten.

• Catwalkpictures → Masters
Etienne Tordoir provides all Master students with a series of catwalk collection images in HR quality. If launching a first collection in Paris, Catwalkpictures also guarantees free professional catwalk images.

• EE Exclusives Award → DELARA TAVASSOTI, 3BA
A 3BA student will have the opportunity to develop a jacquard fabric for his/her Master collection.

• Essentiel x Fashion Dept. collab → CONOR TURLEY, 2BA
Essentiel Antwerp chooses a 2BA student for a collaboration during their 3BA. The team financially supports and guides the student during a few months with the end goal to release a comprehensive items/capsule collection in 2025.

• Fashion Department Award → GUILLAUME GOSSEN, Master
The teachers of the Fashion Department donate €1000 to a Master student.

• Fashion Fever → POMMIE DIERICK, Master
Fashion Fever grants a year membership to our fashion community with entrepreneurs, fashion professionals and suppliers in the industry.

• Flanders DC / University of Antwerp Award → GABRIELLE SZWARCENBERG • MARGOT VERSTUYFT, Masters
Awarded to Master students who manage to translate their creative vision into a mature collection. The award is a participation in the Summer School on Responsible Fashion Management organized by the University of Antwerp.

• Flanders Fashion Makers Award → PAULA VAN DYCK, 3BA
Award given to a student whose work stands out because of the coupes they use. Flanders Fashion Makers makes its expertise available in realising 3 prototypes with skilled people from their studio.

• Horlait Dapsens nomination → JINNY SONG, Master
→ ‘The Mathilde E. HORLAIT-DAPSENS Artistic Foundation’ aims to contribute to the development of the arts and French-language Belgian literature; it aims to provide support and encouragement to artists and authors. Each department of the Academy nominates one student, after which a professional jury selects one to four laureates to divide the €9000 won between them.

• Komono x Fashion Dept. collab → GABRIELLE SZWARCENBERG • ULIANA DOBROVSKAYA • BYEONGHO LEE, Masters
The master students were given a workshop on eyewear development. All masters created designs for eyewear, as an accessory to their collection. Komono grants 3 students the technical opportunities to realise their design.

• Labels & Things Award → ANNAËLLE REUDINK, 3BA
Labels & Things gives a substantial contribution to a 3BA student to boost his/her Master collection with trims and headwear. The award goes to the collection with a distinct attention to detail and accessory.

• Louis Award → LARS MERTENS, 3BA
Louis grants €1000 to the most outstanding 3BA student. The winner is also invited to exhibit the collection in the LOUIS shop window in Antwerp next year.

• Maison Anna Heylen Award → PEIWEN MAO, Master
€1000 awarded to the student with a love of craftsmanship and thoughtful cuts.

• Momu Award → JINNY SONG • PEIWEN MAO, Masters
This award is given to a Master student who stands out in his/her work by using a unique visual language. The collection will be featured with a photo shoot and interview on the museum’s website.

• Movex Award → BYEONGHO LEE, Master
For a student who uses leather in his/her collection in an innovative and creative way. The award consists of a trip to Ubrique, with a visit to the Movex Foundation and companies in the leather industry and the opportunity to produce a mini leather collection for free. The winner receives free materials and workshops in the luxury leather industry with access to all Movex leather professionals, technology and materials

• Naaimachine-Kliniek Deurne/Barbaix Award → Fashion Dept. studio
The sewing machine clinic supports the Fashion Department by sponsoring an industrial sewing machine: 1x Texi Tronic 6 Neo worth €1500.

• Rosier41 Award → SOFIA RODRIGUEZ RODRIGUEZ, Master
Viviane Van Werelyckhuysen and her team will give a prize of €500 to the student with the most ‘FUNKY’ collection.

• Shuting Qiu Award → MOE KUWANO, 3BA
Designer and alumna Shuting Qiu offers a prize of €3000 to a student of 3BA or MA for their innovation and artistry, reflecting the joy and creativity of the Shuting Qiu brand.

• SOFAM Award → BYRON WANG, 3BA
SOFAM, Authors Rights for Visual Artists, will award €1500 to a promising 3BA student, in support of their master collection.

• The Fabric Sales Award → LARS MERTENS • ANNAËLLE REUDINK • BYRON WANG, 3BA
Award for promising 3BA students. The winners may choose a high-end fabric for his/her Master collection for a value of €2000 each.

• Weekend Knack Award → POMMIE DIERICK, Master
Granted by Knack Weekend’s fashion team led by Ellen de Wolf. The award goes to the most promising master student, who will receive a fashion report with interview in the magazine Weekend Knack Special edition ‘Mode, dit is Belgisch’ in September 2024.
