Giulia Cauti (1991, Italy) is a costume designer, visual artist and performer. She recently graduated with Magna cum Laude as master in Visual Arts, Costume Design (RAFA, 2021), focusing her master research on the various forms and meanings of trauma and how to translate them through visual and performing arts. Biomaterials became metaphors for such goal, due to their appearance, characteristics and qualities. From this research, she conceived the project ‘Trauma(tanz)’, in collaboration with Veronika Breuer, as well as the performance ‘Blind Spot’, in collaboration with Valeria Secchi. Cauti also contributed in creating Secchi’s RCA graduation piece ‘Once Upon a Pudding’, in which for the first time she experimented in creating costume and set design using biomaterials.
Moreover, Cauti has been working extensively in costume design teams for Theater, Film, TV and Live Events between Italy, USA and Brazil since 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology of New York City (USA). Her interest in performing arts is also due to her training as an actor, previously being affiliated with The Barrow Group Company and The Rattlestick Theater in NYC, among others.
