A regular guest at European classical and contemporary music cycles and festivals, Thérèse Malengreau is renowned for her vast solo and chamber music repertoire, which she presents as "constructed musical exhibitions". Two recent special projects are 'Au fil du marbre', a musical rite in three acts for the Pavillon des Passions Humaines and 'Back to the dark sky' at the Planétarium de Belgique.
She has a predilection for the turn of the twentieth century and the contemporary sphere, and has discovered and created numerous works both from the past and the present.
Connections between music, visual arts and literature are at the core of her career, sometimes realised in international exhibitions and artistic projects (Musée d'Orsay, Centre Pompidou-Metz, Jean Clair at the Grand Palais, Harald Szeeman in Brussels, Jan Hoet in Germany, etc.).
Her CD-books produced in this perspective - 'Parade and Belgium musical visions' edited by Miroirs - complete a broad list of monographic recordings for solo piano including rare works and world premieres - Delage, Vellones, Simonis, Riotte, Apostel, Liszt-Bartók-Crumb, Mompou - under 'Cyprès', 'BIS', 'Etcetera', 'Soupir' and 'Naxos-Grand Piano'.
She holds several master's degrees from the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles and the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and is a laureate of the Fondation de la Vocation. Her teachers have included N. Henriot-Schweitzer, B. Lemmens, Y. Malinin and L. Fleisher.
She teaches piano, analysis and comparative aesthetics of the arts, her main field of research. She is vice-president of the Société belge d’analyse musicale.
