This fall, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp will be infiltrated by a number of artists' collectives. This innovative pedagogical project is primarily aimed at a critical examination of the traditional studio model. The main question is what the consequences would be if the student, even more so than today is already the case in the academy, be placed at the center of our educational program. In other words: what would happen if the hierarchical relationship that at times still shows itself in the student-master relationship acquires a more symmetrical form and both the student and the teacher are approached as full members of a self-organizing artistic (research) community. To this end, the academy has entered into a temporary partnership with the artists' collective Fluwelen Koord, The Pink House, Piece of Cake, K.A.K. and KOP.
