Qafila

A musical journey towards the East

Dear young dreamers, adventurers and explorers of the infinite...
Can you hear this call from a distance? The caravan is assembling. Travelers are hailing each other, whilst horses and camels laden with merchandise are brought together.

It's time to hop on your saddle. Come and share our tales and songs. From Istanbul, we'll head for Syria, then Persia, following the stars to the heart of India... Who knows where our journey will end? Are you in?

Qafila is a nomadic, light-format show featuring a singer and three musicians (târ/oud, ney, percussion). The audience is taken on an imaginary journey from Turkey to India, through traditional songs, tales and moments of participation. Accompanied by the caravaneer, the artists and audience are transported from one oasis to another, crossing countries and eras. This musical mosaic is an invitation to cross mental and geographical boundaries, establishing new connections between Eastern musical traditions and the Western repertoire.

Delphine Martens (artistic concept, project leader, voice and narration), Sarah Al Sayed Obeid (narration), Miran Güney (ney), Suchet Malhotra (percussion), Milad Mohammadi (oud/târ), Rémi Sarmini (stage direction), Ahmad Alsaadi (stage management)
