Saïdjah en Adinda

The performance Saïdjah and Adinda is based on Multatuli's story of the same name. The story tells the lives of Saïdjah and Adinda, two youngsters destined to marry and left to their own devices during the colonisation of their country, the former Dutch East Indies.

The performance Saïdjah and Adinda retells Multatuli's romantic tragedy, but this time through Adinda's eyes. Both musically and visually, the performance overflows with Western and Eastern elements, including Gamelan music and Wayang theatre. The compositions featured are inspired by traditional Indonesian, Dutch and other European works.
