Lecture: The Resistance in Belgium during World War II.
Resistance against the German occupiers was life-threatening and thus occurred clandestinely. The history of resistance in Belgium is complex, diverse and contradictory. Postwar remembrance often does not do justice to that history. Some resistance is given a visible place in remembrance while other resistance remains invisible to this day. Moreover in Belgium there is a different memory of resistance above and below the language border. The lecture highlights the development of resistance during the war, taking into account the different forms of resistance and the political and social background. The development of resistance memory after the war will also be highlighted.
This lecture will be given in Dutch
