International

If you would like to come to study at the Conservatoire as an exchange student, please follow the exchange students admission procedure.

Internationalisation @ home

When students come to study at the Conservatoire, they are entering a vibrant, international environment. With its many foreign students and teachers, students connect through many languages and cultures. Students can also attend guest lectures and masterclasses given by specialised artists from across the world.

The Conservatoire has a strong link to the international and interdisciplinary arts landscape through its collaboration with the International Arts Campus deSingel, amongst other partners. The presence of international guest artists and professional ensembles provides students with wonderful learning opportunities and possibilities for (interdisciplinary) collaborations.

Exchange programmes for regular students

As a student, you can do a part of your study programme abroad through Erasmus+ or another exchange programme. The Conservatoire offers long and short mobility programmes with multiple grant opportunities. Next to providing you with the opportunity for unique artistic development, studying abroad will give you the chance to get to know other cultures, develop your language skills and independence, and learn to situate your (artistic) vision of society in a broader context.

Students are also encouraged to acquire international experience by taking part in a professional placement and/or artistic project abroad. All information about mobilities and grants can be found on the intranet for students. We also involve our students in international partnership cooperations and projects.

Due to the high artistic level of jazz students, some manage to spend a semester or an academic year studying at prestigious European institutions through the Erasmus+ program (Rhytmic Music Conservatory Copenhagen, Hochschule für Musik "Hans Eisler" Berlin, Sibelius Academy Helsinki, NTNU Department of Music Trondheim, Göteborg University, ...).

In addition, the programs also encourage gaining experience abroad as part of an internship and/or artistic project. As part of the membership of IASJ (International Association of Schools of Jazz), one or two students annually get the chance to participate in the IASJ meeting where they can make music with the most talented jazz students from all over the world under the supervision of an international team of teachers.

Exchange students

The Conservatoire also welcomes exchange students as part of the Erasmus+ programme or another exchange programme. Due to the individual nature of our teaching, we are unfortunately unable to accept all applications, however. Each application is screened on its artistic merits and motivation and exchange students receive the same intensive support as regular Conservatoire students.

As an exchange student, you pay no tuition fee to the Conservatoire but only your enrolment fee to your own, home institution.

During your period of study at the Conservatoire, you must organize your own accommodation. Student accommodation can be found via the website Kotweb.
