New in the Music programme: Collaborative piano

Do you like making music with others? Would you like to collaborate with singers, whether as a repetiteur or recital partner? Then Collaborative piano is the programme for you!

Our Collaborative piano Masters programme launched in the 2019-2020 academic year with its main subject teacher Jeanne-Minette Cilliers. We are proud to also introduce the first Postgraduate programme in Collaborative piano in 2020-2021.

You can pursue this Masters programme upon completion of a Bachelors degree in Piano Performance. An additional option is to complete a Masters degree in Piano Performance, followed by the Masters degree in Collaborative piano or the Postgraduate Collaborative piano programme.

During these degree programmes you will focus on the intricacies of collaboration. You will learn how to listen, how to react to what you hear and how to put those skills to use within a team, ranging from the large teams in opera to the intimate duo of a singer and pianist.

_________
"Studying Collaborative piano changes how you make and experience music. Once you have learned how to listen to your partner(s), you will never listen to music the same way again. These programmes are the ideal springboard to a career in opera: as a conductor, chorus master or repetiteur."

Jeanne-Minette Cilliers, head of Collaborative piano.
