This was (a covid-reduced yet inspiring part of) ARTICULATE 2020!

--------------------------------------------------

“Can artistic research contribute to imagining new perspectives, now that our way of life is shaken up?”

This was the central question of the fifth edition of the annual ARTICULATE research days at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp.

It is with great regret that we had to conclude that with the current covid-19 measures the continuation of ARTICULATE (part 1) at the Academy and ARTICULATE (part 2) at the Conservatoire could not take place.

We would like to thank all the researchers involved for their perseverance and commitment. We have so much respect for their ability to - over and over again - rethink their own practice and its relation to today's disrupted state of the world.

With the Schools of Arts, we will continue looking for ways to provide a platform for the research in the arts. We will continue to experiment with alternative forms of encounter, creation, reflection, collaboration, dialogue and disagreement - all necessary components for a resilient research community.

In the meantime, we are grateful for what did happen during the first days of ARTICULATE; such as the visual reflection of artistic research in the exhibition 'The Unruly Apparatus', the experimental TV show VISI.ON.AIR, the abstract-lyrical concert of LEAP/DETACH, the nocturnal PLANO B on Radio Centraal and the fragile and wonderful encounters during the five-day master classes.
