Erki De Vries

As a visual artist, Erki De Vries developed his own style by using installations and videos to explore spatial relationships and their effect on the way we experience them. His installations are characterized by the coexistence of a tangible and a mental world. His essential concept, movement and integrated lighting effects result in a strong performative character. Erki regularly collaborates with other artists and develops performances, theater pieces and exhibitions. A collaboration with choreographer Benjamin Vandewalle resulted in "Birdwatching" and "One zero." As a scenographer, he has collaborated with Thomas Ryckewaeret, Andros Zinse-Brown and Mesut Arslan, among others. Since 2012, he has also been working with Peter Huybrechts on the development of "BookProject," an ongoing project in which photography, video work and the development of a book alternate and stimulate each other. The development of "BookProject" can be followed at www.bookproject.eu.
