Kobe Proesmans is a Belgian percussionist, drummer, composer, and movement coach. His versatility spans jazz, traditional music, Latin, classical, pop, and experimental sound arts.
He is a co-founder of groups such as Wawadadakwa, Obatala, El Tattoo del Tigre, and The Colorist Orchestra. As a musician, he has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Tony Allen, Zita Swoon, Gabriel Rios, Jef Neve, Raymond van het Groenewoud, Magnus, Bart Peeters, Adamo, Anga Miguel Díaz, Baba Sissoko, Bruno Vansina Orchestra, Arno, Baloji, dEUS, and many others.
Together with drummer Aarich Jespers, he is the initiator, composer, and arranger of The Colorist Orchestra, an eight-piece pop-chamber music collective that has worked with international artists such as Sumie Nagano (Sweden), Cibelle (Brazil), Emiliana Torrini (Iceland), Lisa Hannigan (Ireland), Howe Gelb & Pieta Brown (USA), and KODO (Japan).
Proesmans has also created music for theater and dance productions for companies including TG Stan, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Dimitri Leue, KMSKA, NTGent, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, Nat Gras, Iris Bouche, Het Paleis, BRONKS, Tutti Fratelli, and Schippers & Van Gucht.
In addition to his artistic practice, Kobe teaches his self-developed concept 'Percussive Thinking' as a movement coach at the Royal Conservatory Antwerp.
