Pieter Desmet (Belgium, 1996) started his dance education at the age of 12 at the Kunsthumaniora in Brussels after which he continued his studies at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp where he graduated in 2018. Currently Pieter is dancing for Ultima Vez / Wim Vandekeybus. He tours Europe with the dance performances TRACES (2019), Hands do not touch your precious Me (2021) and Scattered Memories (2022). He also works as a freelance dancer for Aïda Gabriëls / OESTER in the dance concert VACUUM and is involved in the research project COUPE by costume designer Chris Snik. Since 2017, he has been making his own work, which is defined by its cinematic atmospheres and content focus on identity and its development. In 2019, together with Steffi Mennen (dancer) and Jonathan De Maeyer (visual artist), he establishes the art platform Persona as a safe space to gather their individual work, co-create new material and continue the development of their research "the body as a manifestation of identity".
