Sabrina Avantario is an Italian pianist and vocal coach, specialised in opera, expert in artistic vocology (with a master's degree from the University of Bologna in 2022, cum laude). She is also trained as a singer, composer, choral conductor and conductor, currently based in Antwerp (Belgium), with extensive experience in the Italian repertoire. She has participated in numerous international opera productions and lied recitals (winning several chamber music awards with her lied duo).
Her international experience includes working in Belgium (for ten years with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and now on projects/productions of the Munt/la Monnaie), Greece (Greek National Opera), Switzerland (Lucerne and Bern Opera House), Ireland (Wexford Festival Opera), Germany (Staatstheater Kassel), Japan (Otsu and Tokyo Bunkamura Hall), Lebanon (Al Bustan Festival, Beirut), Bahrain and many companies in Italy (Teatro Comunale of Bologna, Festival dei due mondi of Spoleto, Ferrara Musica, e.. a.).
Conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Ottavio Dantone, Vladimir and Dmitri Jurowsky, Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli, Alberto Zedda, Alexander Joel; the composer Giancarlo Menotti; directors such as Michael Hampe, Luca Ronconi and Graham Vick are some of the personalities she has worked with in the last thirty years.
Sabrina Avantario worked at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro from 1995 to 2015 and more specifically as head rehearsal director for the last ten years.
She teaches at the vocal department of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, gives Masterclasses at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and worked as a guest professor at the Royal Conservatory of Wallonia in Liège. She also teaches Italian repertoire at the IOA (International Opera Academy) in Ghent.
