Samuel Baidoo

Samuel (he/they) graduated in 2018 as a dancer from the dance department of the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and in 2015 as master in illustration and graphic design at Sint-Lucas Antwerp. In the past years they perfomed in the work made by Koen de Preter (YoYoGi), Maud Le Pladec (Grensgeval), Kopergietery Gent (De Laatste Eenhoorn), Agostina D’Alessandro (Das Selbst, Formless Mirror) and Caroline D'Haese (Under Covers). Currently Samuel works as a freelance dancer for Nat Gras in two productions (Heel-huids and wijtwee//nosotrosdos), Tuur Marinus (TH LNG GDBY) and Michiel Vandevelde (Dances of Death). In 2023 they will start a new creation for tout petit titled samen bouwen / kariatide (werktitel). In the past few years they got involved in the Royal Conservatoire as a mentor or jury member for the creations of the 3rd year dance bachelor students. As a maker Samuel is currently researching the videogame as a safe space for mental health, healing and as a performative medium under the title plum road tea dream.

With the collective Hanafubuki they worked on multiple projects in the past years for adults and young audiences that tour in- and outside of Belgium. In the coming season Hanafubuki is creating a dyptich for young audiences: Archipelago (a participative installation) and Eiland (a visual theaterperformance).
