After the passing of the Belgian composer Wim Henderickx, several of his compositions were left unfinished. This research project aims to work out a critical edition of five such works and prepare them for publication: “Rejoice”, “Missa Brevis”, “Inner Life”, “Accordion Concerto” and “Timpani Concerto”. Diederik Glorieux, the former assistant of Wim Henderickx, who has worked intensively on the development of his sketches and compositions for 17 years, has extensive knowledge of Henderickx’s methodology and artistic idea. Through a systematical analysis of the sketches and notes, he strives to understand the composer’s original intentions and to integrate them respectfully into the completed works.
The completed compositions have been and will be performed by renowned ensembles and soloists who have worked closely with Henderickx. These performances will not only serve as an interpretation of the works, but also as a test of the choices made in the finishing process. This project aims to contribute to the preservation, scientific anchoring and further dissemination of the musical heritage of Wim Henderickx.
