The first dimension when reading public space is often the spatial dimension. This artistic research rather plays with the human dimension of public space than with its spatiality. Research into the essence of public space as a social space will be in line with various issues and circumstances of daily life in which experiments are supported by theoretical and historical reflection, in order to test knowledge and production in a direct way.
Adam Galach's research goal is to develop a strategy that is as anthropological as it is artistic. Because encounters presuppose a common moment, a shared space in which freedom of speech and self-restraint are negotiated, and in that sense form the essence of what is public.
For this he wants to develop artistic methods for digging up stories, without taking them away from the people to whom they belong. 'How to give' or 'what to offer' and 'in which role' will be relevant questions during the research.
This project will offer new ways to deepen Adams practice, in which all elements involved - personal, intimate space or art, public or artist - make a difference to capture a moment in time. Keywords are process and cooperation instead of end result or artistic individualism.
