Paolo Galli

Paolo Galli studied composition at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Gaetano Donizetti in Bergamo from 2001 to 2010, under the supervision of Professors Stefano Gervasoni and Pieralberto Cattaneo. Subsequently, from 2011 to 2013, he undertook a master’s in composition, under the supervision of Professor Wim Henderickx, at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, where, since 2014, he has been working as a researcher. Furthermore, he is currently carrying out a PhD research project based on the investigation of the interactions between the sonic properties of a text and the timbral features of vocal/instrumental/electronic compositions at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, University of Antwerp and Orpheus Institute Gent (docARTES).


Some of his compositions have been performed by ensembles such as ensemble recherche, HERMESensemble, Ensemble Interface and ensemble deCompagnie. In the context of his research activity, he published the article “Machining the Voice through the Continuous Variation”,
in The Dark Precursor: Deleuze and Artistic Research,
edited by Paulo de Assis and Paolo Giudici (Leuven University Press, 2017, 85-104). Furthermore, he took part in international conferences such as (i) EPARM Conference (Kunstuniversität Graz, 2015), (ii) The Dark Precursor, International Conference on Deleuze and Artistic Research (Orpheus Institute Gent, 2015), (iii) Orpheus Doctoral Conference, (Leiden University, 2016).
