invited by research group MAXlab
28 March 2023, 12:30-14:00
at the Research Room, Academy
Charo Calvo
Charo Calvo is a Spanish electroacoustic composer, sound designer and teacher, living in Brussels.
At the Academy and the Conservatoire, Calvo is working on the research project 'Sound Choreographies. Listening to dance'. The core subject of this research project is to study motor imagery in dancers and musicians, and explore how emergent technologies (motion capture and VR) can mediate motor imagery into corresponding sound traces in 3D space. This research aims to provide the foundation of new gesture-based practices and works of immersive sound art, as well as podcasts with the testimony of the artists involved.
Jeroen Cluckers
Jeroen Cluckers is a video artist and filmmaker. He creates poetic transmissions that explore, question and transform the boundaries between reality and virtuality, cinema and painting, image and imagination.
At the Academy he is currently working on the research project 'The Desert of the Real'. In this project, the interdisciplinary collective Studio Radiaal researches how liminal, multisensory experiences can blur the boundaries between analog and digital, material and immaterial, real and virtual.
