As part of ARTICULATE 2023, the artist-researchers of the Conservatoire present their research to the students, by elaborating on the scope of their project, by introducing their methods, research process, or (preliminary) conclusions, by performing an artistic result or by supervising a workshop.

'The web of artistic practice - From experience to expertise' 
opening lecture by KATHLEEN COESSENS
As a philosopher and artist, dr. Kathleen Coessens is exploring the crossings of science and art, human creativity and cultural representations, embodiment and epistemology. In her lecture on artistic research and practice, she takes a closer look at the questions "What skills and knowledge does a musician need? How does he or she develop them? Can we clearly describe that knowledge?"

workshop by GEORGIA NIKOLAOU
Our body radiates the music we play and in a a parallel way, the music resonates within our body. This workshop aims to inspire in finding a personal and supportive connection of their body to their instrument/voice and to explore the powerful abilities of combining bodily movement to music making.

'Stream of Thoughts'
workshop by JEROEN MALAISE
workshop Every human being has a 'stream of thoughts' that passes in the mind. But what happens when a musician uses this stream of thought as a means of improvisation? Can these thoughts be translated directly into a sound creation?

'Open Score, tangible connection'
workshop by KARIN DE FLEYT
Karin De Fleyt and participants to this workshop will explore the connection between music and movement in space. With play and guided improvisation tools, they will investigate notions in time and discover a shared language where music and movement intertwine and support one another.
